Billing dates change in 2017
In 2017, Mid-Ohio Energy will transition to a new cycle for monthly billing dates. This change is being made to align billing with the way the cooperative is billed for the power we purchase from Buckeye Power (the generation and transmission provider owned by Ohio's electric cooperatives).
As a result, members will enjoy billing cycles that are more predictable and uniform. For budgeting and comparison purposes, monthly costs and energy use will easily align by calendar month rather than portions of two months.
As part of this transition, members will encounter a normal billing cycle for the current November/December period (running from Nov. 10 - Dec. 10), followed by a one-time “shortened cycle” bill to round out the year (Dec. 11 - Dec. 31).
After the shortened cycle, all future billing periods will run from the first day of each month, to the last day of each month. Each month’s due date will fall on the 25th of the month. If the 25th falls on a holiday or weekend, bills will be due on the following business day.
To help members prepare for this transition, an initial notice was published in last month's issue of these local pages. Additionally, your billing statement will list the dates of the current billing period, number of days in the cycle, and updated due dates. Please contact our offices if you have any questions or concerns.
The new cycle will not affect the rate you pay for power. There will be no changes for those currently enrolled in PrePay metering. If you are enrolled in automatic credit card or bank draft, the draft will still come out on the listed due date. Members using "Auto Pay" should update your payment dates accordingly.
