Do I Really Make a Difference? Yes!
Maintaining a strong grassroots presence in the political process is instrumental to the long-term success of the electric cooperative program and the communities they serve. The cooperative model relies heavily upon members who take an active role in their cooperative's success. The personal dedication of consumer-owners to stand together forms the backbone of a powerful grassroots network that promotes policies to secure the future of your electric cooperative and the families they serve.
To that end, there are two organizations that assist our consumer-owners in becoming involved at the local level:
Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE)
The Action Committee for Rural Electrification® (ACRE) – the national political action committee* that is open to all Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative consumer-owners. Founded in 1966 by the approximately 1,000 cooperatives of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), ACRE supports candidates for state and federal office – those in office now and running for office – who will speak for and protect the interests of electric cooperatives and their consumer-owners. The ACRE PAC is more than 33,000 members strong and growing.
Voices for Cooperative Power (VCP)
Voices for Cooperative Power (VCP) - a national network of electric co-op members working together to influence elected officials who are making energy policy decisions that impact our co-ops and, by extension, our way of life.
