COMMUNICATIONS & ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN (Posted Dec. 10, 2024)

Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Engineering Supervisor, the Communications and Electronic Technician will assist with maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting the cooperative’s operations technology, including Radio Frequency (RF), Two Way Automated Communication System (TWACS), substation cameras, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping wizard, and Outage Management Software (OMS). This individual must be self-motivated with the ability to work safely, professionally, efficiently, and independently, managing time appropriately to ensure timely completion. Additionally, the Communications and Electronic Technician will fulfill the duties of a Lineworker (see attachment for Lineworker position description), including participation in the on-call rotation and maintaining the Cooperative’s residency requirements, until otherwise communicated by the Cooperative.
Responsibilities:
• Understand and abide by all safety rules and policies, including setting up work zone using temporary traffic control; performing and completing bucket and tower rescue requirements; maintaining certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use; attending required safety training and meetings; and recognizing and identifying hazards on the jobsite.
• Perform the job responsibilities of a Lineworker, as outlined in the Lineworker Job Description attached.
• Assist with implementing appropriate oil spill prevention and containment procedures as needed.
• Assist with troubleshooting, maintaining, configuring, and programming RF devices.
• Assist with planning and performing all aspects of RF installation, including tower climbing.
• Perform coaxial, fiber, and ethernet terminations.
• Assist with monitoring, maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting the cooperative’s TWACS, substation cameras, SCADA software, GIS mapping wizard, and OMS.
• Assist with managing and coordinating outages to ensure all outages are coded and documented appropriately.
• Assist with completing Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) for line devices when repairs or replacements are required.
• Assist with the maintenance and inspection of all line devices and relay controls.
• Assist with completing monthly inspections of substation equipment and facilities and performing or initiating maintenance as required.
• Assist with performing all network configuration, design, and troubleshooting for line devices.
• Assist with investigating services that display on the pre-bill edit as high or low usage.
• Install meters and perform meter reads, as needed.
• Locate URD, as assigned.
• Assist with substation upgrades and maintenance.
• Assist with professionally interfacing with vendors and engineers on their area of expertise.
• Interact professionally with coworkers and members of the cooperative, maintaining a positive image for the cooperative.
• Actively participate in cooperative committees, as assigned.
Skills or Certifications:
• Possess critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems and make decisions on the jobsite and in substations.
• Proficient in use of technology devices including iPads, computers, and general office software such as Microsoft Office.
• Ability to safely follow written procedures and/or locate resources required to troubleshoot or problem solve.
• Ability to navigate the system territory, including locating substations and feeders with the resources available on the job.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED
• Class A Journeyman Lineworker with a minimum of 5 years of line work experience
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening test and maintain drug free workplace.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions performing heavy physical labor.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
• Must be able to work at heights above 200 feet.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, managing time appropriately to ensure timely completion.

MANAGER OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS & KEY ACCOUNTS (Posted Nov. 11, 2024)

Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Communications, the Manager of Community Relations and Key Accounts will assist with the functions of the communications and marketing department, helping to ensure the cooperative maintains a positive reputation and fostering a healthy relationship with the members and the community.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain an active role in the community by attending local economic development events and maintaining a relationship with local economic development representatives as well as county commissioners, city/village councils, and schools within the cooperative’s footprint.
• Participate in the selection and processing of available economic development grants.
• Represent the cooperative’s interests with legislative representatives and assist in coordinating the cooperative’s grassroots political action efforts with the membership.
• Foster a positive relationship with the cooperative’s key accounts through regular communications.
• Assist with managing and planning community and member events, including events such as member appreciation events, live line demonstrations, and career fairs.
• Serve as an energy advisor for the members through effective troubleshooting of high bill complaints and education on energy use and conservation.
• Conduct onsite energy audits and provide members with recommendations based on the findings.
• Serve as a trusted source of information for members inquiring about residential renewable installations and facilitate the application process for interconnection.
• Provide written monthly reports/updates on activities to the Department Head and President & CEO.
Skills or Certifications:
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, allowing for outstanding interactions with members, public officials, and coworkers.
• Must be able to explain complex concepts to groups and a variety of individuals.
• Possess a thorough understanding of buildings and building systems, such as lighting, building envelope, and mechanical systems.
• Possess a basic understanding of methods used for technical and cost savings analysis and reporting.
• Must be able to correctly conduct an in-field energy assessment.
• Must have a willingness and the ability to learn about the cooperative network and the physical attributes of the power grid in general.
• Possess critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems and make decisions.
• Proficient in use of technology devices including computers, tablets, and general office software such as Microsoft Office and Apple.
• Must be thorough and accurate, with great diligence.
• Must be able to perform good research and have outstanding organizational skills.
• Must possess a strong work ethic with a competitive and driven mindset.
• Possess excellent communication and leadership skills.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Business. A combination of education and/or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
• 5 or more years’ relevant utility experience, preferred
• Advanced experience in electrical distribution or energy management industries.
• Proven successful history in key account management.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
