Community is a common theme with your co-op because we want you to know about the ways we are working for YOU— not only providing reliable electric, but also improving the areas in which our members and employees work and live.
Here’s a look at a few recent activities your co-op has been able to support in recent months:
Food Pantry Distributions in Marion & Kenton
A group of Mid-Ohio Energy employees recently provided helping hands at free community food pantry distributions in both Kenton and Marion.
As fresh food shipments arrive to the distribution point, volunteers are needed to help distribute to community members and students in need. A team of co-op employees were on hand at the recent events to help sort, package, and give out food items.
Triony Salon - Secret Santa (benefit for Angels for the Elderly)
Triony Salon in Kenton organized a 'Secret Santa' shopping event, with all proceeds benefitting the local Angels for the Elderly chapter. The event used the co-op's Kenton Community Room to bring kids in to shop for gifts for their friends and family. Santa's "helpers" guide the shoppers through the room to choose conveniently-priced gifts to surprise their loved ones!
Blue Star Mothers care packages
In November, the Blue Star Mothers of America (Hardin County) made use of Mid-Ohio Energy’s Community Room to assemble their annual Christmas care packages for overseas troops.
Several co-op employees volunteered to join the packing efforts as the group packed a record number of 625 boxes to be sent to military personnel stationed across the globe. Finished packages are then shipped from the co-op, which saves the group additional time and money.
Career Fairs in Marion and Hardin Counties
Mid-Ohio Energy set up a table to discuss careers in energy with hundreds of local high schoolers in Marion and Hardin Counties. The Careers Made in Marion Expo (hosted by Marion Technical College) and the Hardin County Job Expo (hosted by Ohio Means Jobs - Hardin County) offered a chance to talk with students about local careers as well as emerging jobs in the energy industry.
