Please be advised, we've received reports of individuals receiving calls from our Marion office number (740) 382-1234. These calls are not from Mid-Ohio Energy, as we have not sent out any phone call reminders or campaigns this morning. As a reminder, we will NEVER call to ask for sensitive account information or demand immediate payment over the phone.
Please do not give out any personal information. Report suspicious calls to the authorities.
Be wary of any calls that could be a utility scam, or calls asking for your personal information. Falling for a scam could prove very expensive, resulting in stolen identity, bank and credit card fraud, and, in the case of those believing their electric bill has been paid, power being cut off for non-payment.
Mid-Ohio Energy offers the following tips to avoid being scammed:
- Mid-Ohio Energy will NEVER call and ask for sensitive personal information over the phone.
- Members should only use methods authorized by Mid-Ohio Energy to pay their electric bills.
- Our employees visit a home only in response to a service request. If a service call has not been scheduled or requested, do not allow the person to enter your house.
- When an employee does come in response to a serve call, check identification and make sure the service truck is clearly marked with Mid-Ohio Energy's logo.
